Tonawanda Titans

We’d like to introduce you to former Titans coach, Matt Gianottis. Matt joined Titans as a coach in the early 90’s. His experience as a team swimmer combined with his talented coaching skills helped our swimmers become truly amazing athletes in the water. Matt grew up in Willow Ridge, went to Willow Ridge Elementary, where he started swimming at age six with the Sweet Home Swim Club. His very first swim coach was Debbie Tatar at the Sweet Home Junior High School and then the incomparable Coach Steve Myers. He...

You’ve seen her swim for Amherst High School, you’ve seen her swim for Titans, you’ve seen her lifeguarding at the AFC and now you can see her swimming for Canisius College. The first time Carolyn started swimming was her freshman year at Amherst. Not only did she love to swim, but she was also a natural in the pool. With the encouragement of her coach, she tried out for Titans and joined as a level 5 swimmer. She quickly moved up levels as her skills and strokes improved. Carolyn now...

Ten years is a long time to dedicate to anything. Especially when you are engaging and mentoring young people, spearheading key initiatives that expand beyond your team, and simultaneously managing multiple areas of responsibility. We are forever grateful that we can say we had someone in our Titan family that did just that and so much more. This week's spotlight is our very own Titan alumni, OG administrative official, and former coach: Randall Snodgrass Even though swimming is undeniably part of his DNA, Randall did not formally start his journey...

Let us introduce you to another Titans alumni, Rebecca Anthone. Starting with Titans at a young age, Rebecca’s hard work in the pool help to define her as a strong and serious swimmer. She made the Varsity Swim Team at Clarence High School in 8th grade and continued to swim after graduation. She attended Canisius College and swam for the school under Coach Scott. Rebecca still lives locally working as a Public Relation firm based out of New York City. Fun fact # 1: I met my best friend @jacquiesagasta...

Time to introduce a very important family to the Titans organization, the Bigham Family. Dennis Bigham and his two children, Miranda and Benjamin (both alumni swimmers) have always been extremely involved with our swim club. Whether it was volunteering, coaching, swimming, a Bingham could always be found on the pool deck. Dennis played an instrumental role on the Board of Directors, serving as President for a number of years, but his commitment to the overall organization has helped shape what Titans is today. We interviewed Dennis, Miranda and Benjamin, here’s...

In 1988, Western Empire State Titans merged with the Town of Tonawanda Swim Club, that is when our club became known as the Titans. The Titans organization gained more than a team name that year, they gained the English Family. Let us introduce you to mom Jody and her three children Jackie, Katie and Erin. JODY Jody served as our board president for years, was and responsible for sanctioning our very first swim meet at the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic and Fitness Center, was editor of the bi-monthly newsletter, The...

The 2021 summer season wrapped up at the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic and Fitness Center for the majority of the team with some truly amazing swims! We played host to TWST, Clarence Swim Club, and Amherst Swim Club bringing out total swimmers at the meet to 165. The Titans had 109 of them! We are so fortunate to be at this point in the season. We have trained hard, swam smart, learned what it takes to be successful, and had a ton of fun in the process. Saturday provided the...

Great job to those attending senior zones this past weekend. (Maya Marcyan, Lauren Levy, Paul Wissel, Bailey Wiegand, Ava Pauly) It was great to get back to a bigger high level meet and I look forward to attending these meets in the future with a larger number of swimmers. Getting relays to swim again and seeing each swimmer step up after going so long without relays was awesome. Lauren, Paul, and Maya had great individual swims and a few second chance swims at finals. All around it was fun and...
