It’s our 50th Anniversary so what better way to celebrate than to tell you about some of the amazing people that are part of our Titan family – both past and present. 50 Years, 50 Titans!

First up, Scott Vanderzell

Coach Scott Vanderzell has been a part of our Titan family for more than 25 years. He has been the Titan Head Coach since 1995 and you can currently find him coaching our senior level 7 & 8 swimmers. You will also see him around the pool on a daily basis and at each Time Trial or Meet to support all Titan levels and swimmers.

During the time Coach Scott has been a Titan, he has produced a number of Olympic Trial qualifiers, Junior and Senior National qualifiers, Eastern Zone qualifiers, and has had a team that is consistently near the top of the Niagara District year after year. Our Titan program under Coach Scott has grown for a team of 75 swimmers to a team that has been consistently year after year 200+ swimmers.

He may not be the loudest person in the room, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t paying attention. He is extremely observant and can easily recite his swimmer’s times and stroke performances off the top of his head. He values hard work and the importance of academics when balancing swimming. He is known to enjoy a good piece of pizza at any time of the day with his signature Diet Coke (pizza for breakfast is one of his favorite meals).

Our Titan family is extremely grateful to have Coach Scott and are looking forward to him sticking around for the next 25 years!

Quick Q& A with Coach Scott:

Q: When did you become a member of the Titan family?
A: I started in November of 1994.

Q: What is your favorite Titan memory?
A: Best Titan memory is tough. There have been so many great things that have happened through the years from team growth, to watching kids enjoy an accomplishment, to kids making Olympic trials.

Q: What is your least favorite stroke or event?
A: I dreaded swimming 500 free.
