What a turnout for the Star Winter Challenge Meet Held at ECC January 25th to the 27th! We sent 90 swimmers from SD through Level 8 to this one. We had so many swimmers we had to split up and sit on two different sides of the pool, that made for an interesting Titans cheer to start us off on Saturday! It was amazing to see so many of our swimmers show up trough some difficult weather on Friday and Saturday, they really wanted to swim apparently! Thanks for braving the weather and getting to the meet!
We were so excited to see our stroke development kids swim at the STAR Winter challenge meet! Charlotte Nudell and Bella Fucile both swam the 25 back and the 25 free for the first time in a swim meet! Michael Scibetta also swam the 25 back and the 25 free and he did a great job! Awesome job stroke development swimmers!
Mackenzie Vetter-Higgins was the only level 1 swimmer at the meet this past weekend. She tried the 50 fly for the first time. Way to go Mackenzie!
Level 2 came to race this weekend and really proved to us how hard they have been working. Each of the 6 swimmers had personal best times in the pool. Issac King swam in 8 events and reached best times in all of them including a silver cut time in the 50 backstroke. Chase and Tyler Hapeman braved the 200 IM on Friday and put forth a great effort to finish off a tough race. Way to go level 2!!

There were 11 swimmers representing level 3 this past weekend at the meet and they did a great job. It was a cold one on deck but they did their best to keep warm with parkas, towels, and shoes! That didn’t stop them from swimming fast in the pool with a personal best from every swimmer. Ali Wager and Ebon Zuckerberg challenged themselves with new events like the 200 IM and 200 freestyle. Way to go! With a few DQ’s across the board we are going to spend more time breaking down each stroke at practice; focusing on the small details.

Level 4 sent 13 swimmers to the meet swimming in races ranging from the 50 free to the 500 free as well as the IM’s all four stroke events. We pitched in on relays and had a great time doing it! The kids amassed more Silver cuts, Gold cuts, 6 new swims, 34 personal bests, and zero disqualifications! Several swimmers could do no wrong in the ECC pool swimming best times every time! Congratulations to Ryan Bronson, Charles Lorenz, Bobby Lorenz, and Arianna Sidor for pulling that amazing feet off! Every other level 4 swimmer posted at least one PB along with some great new swims!
Level 5 had 14 swimmers that raced in the Winter Challenge meet. They all came to the meet with goals in mind and stayed focused throughout the weekend. We had some awesome best times across the board coming from Lila Roeser dropping 18 seconds in her 200IM and 26 seconds in her 200 Free! Maddy Bronson, Campbell Murphy, and Evan Schraufstetter walked away with personal best in all the events they swam. Kerrington Clouser scored a gold time in her 200 IM! Way to go swimmers, hard work in the pool really pays off! We also did not have any DQ’s this weekend which is a great sign that everyone has been working on the details of their strokes in each and every practice. We look froward to challenging ourselves at practice and getting prepared for championships!
Level 6 continues to improve and amaze! 15 Titans from this group pulled together 38 new personal bests, 5 new events swam, more Silver cuts, and Golds cuts, and zero disqualifications! These swimmers braved events like the 400 IM, 200 fly, and 500 free, showing that hard work pays off! Another 5 swimmers stunned us by swimming to personal bests every swim! Well done Leah Gardiner, Ramy Ben Jaballah, Salim Ben Jaballah, and Payton Taylor! Lillian Hauser Howells had the comeback swims of the meet posting all personal bests on Sunday! All of the swimmers put in outstanding efforts and we were proud of everyone at this one!
Level 7-8 this was a great mid season meet with most everyone swimming personal best or right at personal best. This not a meet we rest for but a meet that we look to improve our racing skills and the pieces that it takes to have long term success.
